Unfortunately correct. Sat at my fire every night ate our food, not even a birthday card/ Christmas card its not right. Couldn't do it anymore...he had a great job too.

Taking advantage of someone financially is not ok - but if the relationship was great, why didn't you talk to him about it?
I know it's sometimes hard to talk about "the elephant in the room" - but yeah, no gifts to the significant other and the kid is pretty odd though...
