Maya74: Is religion important to you? Would you date an atheist (if you are religious yourself) or a religious person (if you are an atheist)? Could you date a person who belongs to another religion? Do you think that similar religious beliefs are important for a relationship or completely irrelevant?
The important thing is that you are what you say you are. I wouldn't have kids with an Atheist who finds greater meaning in life through astrology or a Christian obsessed with Disney, money and the compulsion to get one over other people on this earth.. When the Atheist is brainless and the Christian soulless, that's the turn off.
yubba: . I am very happy in my life and what I do, others seem to have great joy in being Mother Hens I see it a lot here and I try to keep away from it.
yubba: . It's what you asked for, but I think you have a very closed idea of how you run your life and possibly you have more than an interest in religion.
I was just interested to know what CS members think about the topic.
Personally, I prefer people who have philosophical rather than religious approach to life.
I couldn't be in a relationship with a religious person. Those who respect their tradition only (celebrate Christmas and Easter, for example, but are not believers - don't go to church, etc.) are OK, but I prefer atheists, agnostics and mildly spiritual people.

Maybe I read your profile wrong but it does not say much anyway and is contradictory.

It says 'spiritual, but not religious'.
Sometimes I post threads just because the idea came to my mind or I read something somewhere - they neither always have some deeper meaning, nor show something about me. I noticed that many people on CS don't make that distinction. For example, if someone starts the thread about the religion they assume that the person is religious or if a certain person takes a certain standpoint in a discussion they never think that - maybe - that person does that just for the sake of a discussion itself, not because they personally think so. I often try to see things from different standpoints, so it might seem that I think/agree with something, while I just show that we can look at that problem the other way, too.
Maybe people on CS are just here for a long time, know each other very well and the discussions aren't discussions any more, but more - a relaxed chat in a bar between friends - or something like that.

It's a combination
Many threads/blogs are just about an interesting subject, or a fun thread. These are usually more wide ranging topics.
Other people only post about things directly related to themselves, one way or the other.
And then there are the ones who post just to get a reaction, to get people worked up.
Religion & politics can permeate any of these.
It is how the topic is presented, and the OP's reaction and way of responding to posters will tell you which type it is.
