SingleGuyInOz: As the title of the thread says ... "What Phrases, Terms or Words Irritate You ?" ...
... and of course on many occasions it's not always what is said, but how it's said that, as well as the repetitiveness that can be so irritating and annoying ...
Starting a sentence with "basically". Also starting a sentence with So" as in So the best medicene .. Should be used as follows, The party got loud so I had to leave. I don't always use proper english but some new terms I hear are bothering me. Of course I am getting up there in age, so may be a part of it too.
So basically, I dont like trendy words that dont really mean much. Sustainable, is very popular at the moment but hopefully on the way out. Best practice, and capacity building, have both had their day and are not trendy any more.
phrases, terms or words are the things, can not make us feel upset, maybe if I do not like a specific person, I also do not like his words, iam fair enough ?
An x-gf had some embarrassing canned remarks she liked to used anywhere. Ex. When she was surprised about something... she’d say (anywhere), “Well stuff my (beep) with crumbs and call me Thanksgiving Dinner.”

If I am on my period days I may take some insensitive remarks comments more personal and irritable but in my good days, hardly anything can irritate me and I prefer to chose looking on everything that can irritate me with a pinch of humor that keeps me in a good spirit, rather than allowing anyone else to make my day sunny or cloudy and giving someone else power to effect me...which could be an excuse to shift responsibility for what we personally choose....if one knows that a friend or a partner can put up with an irritable grumpy attitude lol. Of course if is a case of a car accident and similar dramatic events, it's hard to stay cool but all other things ...it's nicer to accept people how they are or to avoid them if is too unpleasent.
KarloradoFL: People who type u for you and r for are.
Yes, Karl i dont like also. If i read someone texting to me in such form, suddenly i know with whom i deal. i feel no respect at all. It is different if the person is uneducate, not even understand the ethics of spelling.

Is being on a period the opposite of being on the ball.
