KNenagh: Hiya Crunia, I do find them helpful & check them but usually don't rate these myself. .
I found recently a good dentist option reading reviews....I always read them but do not always rate myself.... What I never read are those from books or movies....don´t know exactly why
Crunia: Books, tickets for concerts and/or any product / service which you are/ or not satisfied with as a customer???
Do you check reviews before shopping? find it useful? Thanks for your opinion
I'm not proud to say I buy from Amazon, but I sometimes do. I always read the customer reviews, beginning with the 1 star reviews. I try and read enough reviews to see what the majority of verified customers are saying. I think Amazon does a pretty good job of not letting companies slip their employees into the review process too often. If you buy a lot and always review the products intelligently you can sometimes become a special reviewer, which means they send you free products to review. I think that helps keep the reviewers honest. But I could be wrong.

Miwagi: I'm not proud to say I buy from Amazon...........
I´m sorry Miwagi and all of you, I deleted this thread from my mind not sure why. It has been a while since I don´t shop in Amazon, but when my kid was a baby I used it a lot as since I think the have a wide range of products, didn´t know about that "special reviewer" position, sounds interesting ...I should have a look on that

Bearwoman: I've never ordered anything online cause I prefer to look at something upclose and personal.
Yes, I prefer that too but where I live sometimes I do not have any other option than online shopping ....lucky you Bearwoman, it´s a plus from your country

I´ll try to do more since I find it very useful and I believe it´s a "social service" ....but I just can´t trust on books for example, maybe this is because I have a couple of friends who happen to also be writers and I know they ask their friends to write reviews for them ....besides that, I don´t know, I´m very "special" when it comes about books....never impressed by good sellers and stuff like that, If I don´t find that book attracks my attention by itself, reviews and other´s opinion can do very little to motivate me from both of us LOL!
I have left feed back and ratings for a few places. Mostly local restaurants. I also get the odd item off E-Bay and will leave a rating for the seller. I do check the feed back, especially the low ones just to see what the complaint was. I have seen a few times the problem was not the sellers fault. I watched a piece done by the CBC showing how the ratings and feed back can be manipulated. They showed how people can be hired on line to give positive feed back. And one person had even claimed they had medical credentials when they didn't.. I just play it by ear.
Crunia: Thank you Frisky I try to find the moment with post-it over post.-it sometimes LOL ....glad you like the thread, I find yours very pleasant too
crazyblondeone: I don't read commens/reviews of movies or books. My taste is different than others. Though sometimes I could kick myself for not reading the reviews.
Products, heck yeah I read reviews. Some stuff is just junk and people let you know. So if more often than not the reviews are bad I am staying away.

... I once reviewed and gave a fair (3 stars) rating on a product purchased from an eBay seller. However upon checking the reviews and ratings a few days later, i discovered my review and star rating had been removed, along with somebody else's who had only given the item 1 star, and so leaving only the more positive reviews displaying 4 and 5 stars. I then re-wrote the review and gave a 3 star rating again, only for the same thing to happen . After this occasion i got in touch with eBay asking them what was going on, and how potential new customers could get a fairer idea of products if ratings and reviews are removed etc ?. Needless to say they couldn't explain either of my queries, but fobbed me off by saying that eBay would look into matters if i sent my query to another department of theirs along with with more information . After making several attempts, i was unable to get in touch with the department they mentioned, and so having enough of it, i left it at that. I'll no longer be wasting my time and effort in giving fair and detailed reviews on purchased items the way things stand ... and i now take reviews and ratings i read about on that site with a pinch of salt
