I would have to agree with you concerning the comedy. As far as police/detective the award goes to The Blacklist! Top notch direction, writing, and especially acting. James Spader nails the antihero to a tee.

It depends what you're after. The best of the British is quirky and comical, Europe has sophistication and America is the blitz on the senses.
