Knowing the difference between a real and fake profile and the problems genuine people face. (37)

Feb 5, 2018 9:21 PM CST Knowing the difference between a real and fake profile and the problems genuine people face.
Hi people and welcome to my thread.
I know that these sites attract loads of false profiles and people just wanting to hook up even though their profile says different. What are the triggers that you see that make you suspect a profile to be false from the first connection and how do you differentiate a real profile from all the false ones. Is there anything you just don't trust in a profile or when it is told to you that is a auto reject trigger? Do you have any key questions that you use for probing if someone is real or not and at what stage in meeting does trust start to form with a online connection?
I get lots of people that start out seeming to be real and just interested in making a real connection but all to often they end up being cons or wanting money or some other sob story that is supposed to have me feel sorry for them and cough up, not that I do.Is it really possible to meet someone online these days and just know that they are who they say they are or do you hold out in any form of trust till after you have met in person and spent real time with them to evaluate just how genuine they are? How do we prove beyond reasonable doubt that what is told in a profile is real and how do we verify any of it? is it possible? All these false profiles make it hard for those genuine people, like myself, to make real and meaningful connections because from the start, people are suspicious, including myself, of what the motivations are for their initial connection. How dioes a genuine person make their profile stand out above the rest so that when first read, it shows something other than the norm and have the reader wanting to know more?
Your thoughts. Thanks. :)

Oh that's so sweet and sencire way to share your fears and seek other people experience and ideas. If is too good to be true, it usually is. I suggest, don't offer or give away too soon your email address, scammers collects emails and sell it, as well scammer can huck into your computer. I wouldn't even accept picture from another person that i do not know well as that pick may carry bug uh oh Take time in getting to know someone.teddybear Good luck.wine

Like the saying- if its too good to be true, it probably isnt...

Things to watch for- Studio photograph, Phd or masters degree with spelling mistakes, no children, aged 37, seeking much older men, numbers in their profile name, offering their email address in the first message...

I feel comfortable to reply only to people I know from forums and blogs. Scammers are easy to notice and they reveal themselves fast, but there are too many people who simply - lie. There are many people who speak English perfectly, for example, but tell some imaginary life stories. You simply 'feel' there's something wrong with their profile, their story, although everything 'seems right'. It's hard to explain, but I'm very scared of those...

I think that there's no way to absolutely prove that people are honest. Even if you speak with them on the phone or have a video chat - you still cannot be 100% sure that everything they said about themselves is true. Sometimes you just have to take 'a leap of faith', I guess. smile

True.wine My suggestion is: follow you're instict and logic and don't gamble with faith ...ask questions when something is not clear and even if you get lie or half truth, eventually you will figure out.cheers

That all sounds right to me thumbs up

A good rule of thumb is, if you know they wouldn't look twice at you in real life, but are extremely interested in you here, they are up to no good.
