Check your pc, you might have an "infection" or "Change Security Setting In Chrome:" (you better google it to get the right info, as you have all the details)

"this web page is not available with the error code ERR SSL VERSION OR CIPHER MISMATCH is the Google Chrome Browser’s error, which only occurs when there is some problem happening on your computer system while establishing the private connection with a secure website, and mainly this error is related to the “SSL Certificate” security."

Hi, ooby_dooby,
have you maybe installed windows updates (automatically or manually) in between? If, then go back a few months before the installing of the updates. Normally that helps always.
Go to system control, and there to restoration. Set Windows into the old state, and everything will work again.

Is this old state you refer to the pre 5GB update that took place last year about November ?

No, ooby_dooby must have an offered restoration date in that part of the system control. But you can change the date manually to which you want to go back.
It is a good way to help yourself when you either can´t remember what you changed yourself that maybe caused a flaw, or when a Windows Update did change something and irritates the browser.

yeah Google Chrome is not much good any more. Google got sold and is rapidly turning cactus, you can't get meaningful support to rectify issues. Google Picasa is also cactus, some the issues relate to microsoft expired certificates, i can't access gmail in chrome or google blog, which i understand likely relates to using Wi-Fi internet access.
My default is Firefox and the other day i downloaded the new Yandex browser (Russian) which seems obvious replacement when i get around to removing Google Chrome all together
