Miwagi: Well you guys did use dogs to muck with them.

I've never "mucked" with a badger in my life.

I think that happened before your time. Ain't that what Steve Irwin the crocodile hunter used to say: don't muck with me mate." to the animals? confused What does it mean over there now?

Over here to "muck about" means to mess about, to dabble with. It implies not taking something too seriously. If you were to say, for example, "I like mucking about with cars" it would mean you liked to do your own maintenance or make modifications in a hobby sort of way. If someone tells you to stop mucking about, it usually means you're not making a very good job of something and they want you to get on with doing it properly. To muck about with badgers is not something most people would readily admit to.

truheart1941: ..you forgot *mucking out*.....

It was more a case of omitting it because of its irrelevance than forgetting it. Although I suppose you could be mucking about mucking out, therefore making a crap job of it.

Miwagi: Rob the grey heron is a nasty creature. I raise koi and they clean out about half my crop, but the damn otters are even worse if they come around. There is a grey heron rookery near my farm and they nest in trees together, with dozens of nests and 4-6 babies in each in the early Spring. And they are quick to take flight if they know you are watching them. Also they hunt day and flight and can fly in after dark. They are big impressive birds but I could live without them. I like the white egrets. They don't come near as often, I see heron everyday. No shortage of predators in the country.

these three species would help reduce your fish food bill
