That could prove fatal in my advanced years. Probably still better than one of those colon cleansing applications..

Good question Galrads

Unfortunately, there are fads and it depends on the flavor of the month in what is in vogue and the advertisements/info-commercials in whats diets are getting pushed/are known about.

Apparently our bodies have not changed from the time we where "cave men"

At that time agricultural farming was not around/discovered/invented.

Thus, things like corn, wheat, rice (i.e carbs) where not eaten in much quality as it is these days.

During the "cave man" times...you would probably go hunting for a deer or go fishing...or if you go past a apple tree...eat apples etc etc

Therefore there was little carbohydrates being consumed.

With this in mind the diet to aim for is the diet our ancestries ate. This includes nuts and berries as well as fruit and veg and meat and fish (with a little bit of carbs)

The good thing is you could have a full English breakfast (bacon, sausages, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes etc but just leave out the bread/toast).

Saying that, buy low carb breads (anything less than 10 grams per slice is good), and toasting the bread gets rid of more carbs too.

Do watch your cholesterol levels though (thats if you, up the intake of meats...however in regards to this, white meats are better than red meats). If your on statins or tablets for cholesterol anyway, and your cholesterol levels are ok, then its getting taken care off, but do get advice from your family Dr.

They do reckon that some people are prone to higher cholesterol levels just because of their genes and its further impacted buy what is then eaten).

I would also get a bicycle to ride around (less pressure on the joints than going for a jog)
You can find a BBC documentary on youtube on the fact of - short busts of a few minutes of exercise does do good as opposed to exercising for long durations. Again its got to do with our ancestors and the short bursts of intense running they used to do to gain the upper hand with the element of surprise to get their next meal. wave

Gee can’t you just sit in one of those steam machines that looks like a washing machine with your head sticking out for a day or two while drinking margaritas all day? handshake wave

What a good memory. You did get those that back in the day.
Maybe a local mixed sauna can help and would be the way to go to increase your motivation to sweat it out and at the same time with some action going on, getting your pulse racing, just as what the BBC documentary demonstrates on the subject of keeping fit in bursts.

Sounds like work counting calories, mollybaby. Not many restaurants around here post calories information on their menus or in the bars.

I might have to resort to McDonald’s and Wendy’s fast food where the calories are posted or available on their respective internet sites.

Thanks wave

Eat less with all things in moderation and exercise more, even if it's only a 30 minute brisk walk daily. The weight will slowly come off and stay off if you keep up with your new lifestyle.

If you like to snack between your three meals/day make it a piece of fruit and drink plenty of water/day.
