Try canoeing.

I started on the Mississippi River at St. Paul, Minnesota, weighing 196 pounds, with a 36" waist...

After 800 miles I still weighed 196 pounds; but my waist was 32;" and the extra 4" was on my chest, arms, back, and shoulders.

Yeah, that’s great exercise. Did a lot of canoeing back in my college days in Michigan when I weighed 155 pounds with a 28” waist. Long gone are those days now. laugh

I think it was Backpacker Magazine that had an article on exercises that burn more calories than canoeing...

That would be something like cross-country ski racing, or uphill ski racing.
