As our children were growing up, we were always advising
them on things to do for the better, because we wanted them
to have a good and fulfilling life.

Now as adults the tables have turned and they are now giving us advice.

What advice do you think your son/or daughter would give to you
and how would you react to it ??peace

My two can't even put a new toilet roll on the holder so, not much chance of them dishing out any advice I'd listen to.

Can't say as I did much 'advise' my kids as they grew up ... more we'd have a conversation about whatever course of action they were contemplating and what the likely outcomes might be for each of the options and indeed if other options might exist to achieve same or better outcome.

They're adults now and we use the same process - as an example with new technology items ... I'll have a look about and do my own research form an opinion and ring one or t'other to ask "What do you know / have you heard about xyz any good..." If they were very firm that one brand or other had an horrendous rep I'd keep that in mind and avoid !

I suppose the exception would be technical matters where there's a process ... elder rang this week when a piece of machinery wouldn't start, but I dunno if that would count as 'advice' when really it's a step by step instruction to find a fault?

I think my kids might have missed out on the growing up thing.
Or we must have a round table here.
Advise has always been a two way street.
I've learned an insane amount from them.
About myself, my world view, whatever
I hope that bouncing back and forward of ideas and advise never stops.

Children grow and gather their own knowledge and experience...
Sometimes they don't have to be adults to know more in certain areas than you do...
Whatever my son comes up with I'd listen carefully for sure...there might be one brilliant idea within the crowd of kites he's flying...

"

What i get from mine, is things like,
" Why don't you come to live in UK again,
we could spend more time together"
It's all stuff that would be for my good.
Like my advice was for them.
