"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes”
We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world. Buddha
Well the point of Buddhism is going nowhere in life. Quite literally that is the point. Navel-gazing. And meditation is basically a way to be narcissistic without hurting anybody. I can see why Buddhism is trendy in the West.
But what interests me is how out of fashion Buddhism has become in its own homeland, the greats steps they are making in the far east as though life on this earth contained significance. 500 years ago orientals were poised to eclipse world and likely would have founded the industrial revolution but instead they chose to stagnate. Much has changed over the centuries.

Buddhism works for us because it fits the futureless, end of history psychology we have in the same the West. The economic decline and rise of social immobility is pacified by Buddhism because what Buddhism teaches is serfdom tolerance.
But we’re not finished. There are still brilliant advances being made in science and technology, the frontier in space to be explored there are horizons above and beyond serfdom. Some say we’ve lost our nerve in the West but there’s so much to live, the achievements of the future begin with the turn against Buddhism and this psychology of the end times.
I wonder why the people next to me keep moving out, In 35 years, I've gone through 4 neighbors, the last one was here less than 2 years, I don't play drums between midnight and 4 am... I saw the new guy yesterday, he drove his golf cart down the driveway to get his mail... I'm thinking to myself, can you put a snow plow on that?
