I meet plenty of people with personality.
Not many people with character. I define character as tolerance of boredom, tolerance of loss, and tolerance of austerity. Stomaching privation, sacrificing desire and going without entertainment builds character. It's boring in a good way.

Personality is style over substance and its taught from mother to child.
Normally that's what I find. Character is developed in adversity, personality is developed in a coffee shop. The distance between the two is very great indeed.

I didn't at the time but today I thank my dad for telling me to bored and making me sit outside the builders merchants for about a hundred thousand hours. Patience is that forgotten characteristic that women test in men endlessly whether they realise it or not. Blowing hot and cold, mood swings, and text games all test a man's patience but these are water off a ducks back to the forgotten strong, silent type
