most religions are about peace, and many have the same core beliefs. It is culture that changes those things. I believe my beliefs should not be set, once you do that , you cannot know if there are better beliefs. If a person does you no harm, then you are not accommodating them, they are accommodating you.

Same here, there is no problem acknowledging religious festivals.
It's definitely a thing here alright. Trump is trying to make it alright to say it again. But some atheist or Jew made a big deal out it a few years ago, and it became politically incorrect for stores to say it to shoppers at Christmas. Thus we got Merry Xmas or Happy Holidays.

An example in the UK was one council changed Christmas Lights to Winter Lights.
