KremaP: Without exaggeration, every second Irish person I've met in my life haven't waited long in a conversation before throwing some insults against the English... Same with Scottish, even in front of (ex) my English partner and my son...

I never heard that from the English...

The English ( and I am, though I also have Irish and Scot in my 'recent' heritage) tend to have a drier sense of humour and we just shrug it off when the ruffians (inc the Welsh, perhaps especially the Welsh) get agitated and blame us for ... well, pretty much everything really!

Whereas the English will tend towards 'OK, negotiated a settlement ... next' the neighbours tend to be more 'Klingonish' to ancient hurts !

There is a historical antipathy against the English. This is due to centuries of colonisation and bad treatment.

Few people carry it now, only a few people who live in the past. Most people keep the rivalry for rugby and soccer matches, where England would be the main rivals to beat. But in a good-humoured way.

As for the English not behaving that way, the victors rarely do. Antipathy is reserved for the conquered..
Plus most English people know very little about Ireland in reality.

I speak with many from both continents both can be feisty both can be soft spoken just depends on the individual not so much the country itself.

Deedee123x: Lol....no offence meant Let.
We all have our thing.

You SHOULD know that, after ALL THESE years, redhead jokes roll off me, FASTER than water! No problem, Dee! "I" was just giving YOU a hard time! (As usual! laugh ) And ACTUALLY, my hair started turning sorta "brownish", in my mid 40's! But what strikes ME as finny, is that #1. I STILL have all of it! (And BELIEVE me, I have a LOT of hair! SUPER thick! #2. NOW people (including my barber) yell me I have dark blond hair! But yeah. Until my mid 40's, my hair was that see it 3 blocks away BRIGHT copper/gold kinda redhead color! A funny story about my red hair, you know how people will ask redheaded children, "Where did you get that red hair?" Well, it happened to me OFTEN enough, that I finally asked my parents. And THEY told me I got it from the milkman. (My dad's hair had been bleached white, by the tropical sun and salt water, by this time. I KNOW he was a redhead, too, but I NEVER saw it! His hair was ALWAYS white, into his 80's!) Anyway, so the next time I was asked (and my parents happened to be standing behind me, at the time) I told the man, "From the milkman!" proudly! And my dad started laughing! But my mom turned darker red than a beet! I think it was THEN, that they started being careful WHAT they told me! laugh cheers hug bouquet
