I know the site requests that members not overdo it with Emoticons because it consumes excess resources.

Rule 15
Emoticons- respect site resources and page load time of members with slow computers. Limit use of emoticons to 3 emoticons per post.

I'm sure a duplicate blog or forum thread has the same effect, probably even more so.confused

I don’t know oob. Maybe the op just wants to make sure certain people read it. dunno

You’re an income tax expert right? Have you heard about the VW zero emission fraud case? My final settlement amount for my 2015 Audi Q5 TDI from VW is about 1/7 what I paid for it. Do I need to include this amount in my 2017 Federal or State Returns. Thanks in advance.

I have heard about VW gaming the exhaust emissions readings. I'm not a tax expert but if I were to guess, I would think that you would have to declare it as income but it would just be a guess. You could actually call the IRS and they would tell you. I've had to call them once and they were extremely courteous and helpful which kind of surprised me because I was expecting them to bite my head off. .laugh
On the other hand, if the vehicle isn't used for a business where you took a deduction as a business expense, it may not be classified as income. You could also call HR Block, they'll probably tell you.
