The best country... Each has their strong and weak points. If you like rotten teeth and small cks then you really cant go past England, if you want cheap cocaine then Bolivia is the go, if you ever wanted to eat monkeys brains you cant beat China, if you like snow but dont like crowds I'd head for antarctica, and if you want to be shot or shoot somebody America's the way to go.

pat8lanips: The climate you've described, just below freezing up to mid 40's, is like Melbourne. I'm on the pointy bit on the right hand side near the top, in the tropics. Its around 30 degrees all year, gets very humid in summer.
Yes, that's the climate in Joburg, where I currently live.
Durban, has a tropical climate like urs.
Then in Cape Town, the mother city, It has a fine rain mostly, that's why it's so green, but it gets quite chilly.
The Cape region, stretches from the sea, inland thru semi-desert, where it meets another region, where u find Bloemfontein, where the climate is more dry.

I bet, but I battle to breathe in the humidity.
I once write a computer system for a big hotel there, and had to be indoors till late in the afternoon, under air conditioning, but I survived. Very beautifull, terraced to the sea.

We have temperatures in summer peeking at about 45 C and in winter lows of just into the minuses.
We have rain, sun, lovely scenery, mountains, rivers, hardly any snow except on the highest mountains, and seas ranging from warm in Durban to freezing in Langebaan.
It is absolutely gorgeous !
