The words No Cold canvassing on my door and the full list don't work.
Go away and No thanks have to be spelled out in the most Powerful two words in the Englsih Language as semi-literates don't even understand the polite version Foxtrot Oscar.

I know some of the pests, that ring up...the double glazing salesperson, the Indian or pakistani scammer trying to sell you their con and a whole lot more....the answer is to put the phone down or play load music or leave them on hold for a while and then play loud music

Big question? Could you live life without swear words? I know I could, because they are not valid in an argument and they don’t replace facts

I only ever user swear words, if I am at boiling point and that it very rare

I swear in French, it sounds classier. snooty

neo100: i swear a lot, but i can control where and when, ie, at work etc.... Im irish, we all cuss a little over here. i find nothing wrong with it. but i just wanted to say to you that its a completely natural expression. even you, when you have exhausted all other methods of persuasion resort to some profanity. so the question is pointless. we need profanities to express ourselves, sometimes to laugh, sometimes to cry. it adds colour to the black and white of the formal.
time and place

I did mention, that I would only use swear words, when I was at boiling point and this is very rare....
Swearing all the time to me is very childish, swear words are just throw away words, are not memorable at all and very often used, when someone is very bad at debating and lash out, because they have no argument left....

I'm not impressed by profanity and I don't need profanity

Kaybee50: In the height of passion, it's amazing what words come out of this mouth.

Do you feel a need to use them...or could you just get angry without the profanity?

rizlared: "The use of obscene or taboo language - or swearing, as it’s more commonly known - is often seen as a sign that the speaker lacks vocabulary, cannot express themselves in a less offensive way, or even lacks intelligence.

Studies have shown, however, that swearing may in fact display a more, rather than less, intelligent use of language."

Various google sources.

Seems we agree on profanity thumbs up

I do use profanity.

Not much since I'm talking to and dealing with people a large majority of the time.

However, if it's a vehicle, machine, or electronic device I'm dealing with; all bets are off! Unless there are people around; then most profanities at the lifeless device(s) will stay generally, under my breath.

LeeCharming: I'm polite, I'm well mannered and I was brought up that way.
Has nothing to do with PC and I hate PC...it's a question...no words should be banned...

The question is could you live without swearing words? I said I don't need them to talk facts, so they have no real value...swear words are throw away words and not memorable words

Ya THINK? confused THAT'S a stupid question! To ask YOU, Lee! The answer is OBVIOUSLY "NO!" doh I have NO IDEA how you were "brought up"! But HOWEVER it was, THINKING was NOT part of YOUR curriculum!

Have you CONSIDERED the ILLOGIC of your statements/proposition, herein? You're stating that, in YOUR opinion, "swear" words ARE unnecessary/unwanted.unwarranted. In OTHER words, SHOULD BE banned from general usage.conversation! And THEN, you turn around and state - UNEQUIVOCALLY - that "no words should be banned.."!? But then, I've ALWAYS had problems with YOUR "logic". Lee. Are you DENIGRATING the use of "swear" words? Advocating them. A little of BOTH? Or NEITHER/NONE AT ALL/EVER? Where DO you stand, Lee? Do YOU even know? Cause the REST of US DAMN SURE DON'T!

You ask, "Could you live without swearing words?" Sure, Lee! But there's SOMETHING that you're NOT taking into account, Lee, It NOT "could we", but "WOULD we"? The USE of "swear" words is, GENERALLY, as a means of ADDING EMPHASIS! So, even IF there WERE NO "swear" words, we'd INVENT some! HOW do you THINK that "swear" words came INTO BEING, in the FIRST place? Oh! MY bad! I FORGOT! STUPID question! You DON'T "THINK"! Which EXPLAINS your subsequent proposition that "swear" words are meaningless, useless, throwaway words! YOU DON'T "understand" language, or word USAGE, AT ALL! You wanna EXPOUND on language and words, Mr. TRYING to BE "bigshot/popular/knowitall"? TRY learning a LITLLE ITSY BITSY TEENY WEENY BIT ABOUT IT, FIRST! MIGHT keep you from putting your foot EVEN YOU know where! Which OBVIOUSLY exposes YOUR LIE, about "I don't need them to talk facts"! You NEVER talk "facts", Lee! WITH, or WITHOUT them! Your bias and prejudice STICKS OUT, IN/OVER EVERYTHING you say and write! You're RARELY logical! Your "FACTS" are ONLY "facts", in YOUR mind! Because YOU "ARE" PREJUDICE towards them! But MAYBE I SHOULD cut you some slack! I'm MAKING an assumption! That you HAVE a mind! And HAVING a mind IS a prerequisite, to using it! So MAYBE I'm mistaken! And you DON'T have one! doh dunno sigh

Harbal: In your case, Lee, your opinions are far more unpalatable than the words you use to express them.

To be honest I do cuss a lot. I could live without cuss words easily. Did for years. I do not cuss out of passion or anger just in every day talk. I am the product of my environment so to speak. I am around cussing so I have picked it up. A long with some other questionable habits. uh oh By the way I don't use cuss words when I want to impress. I actually speak perfect proper English. It's like a unicorn around here (not cs but where I am at) seems to baffle people. laugh
