I think the responders missed the point.........AS I understand the post, I thing the swimmer and the shopper was expressing gratitude in your ability to assist them in doing something they themselves needed help with. You are privileged in having the ability to help them to perform a task they could not or had trouble with. WHY DO PEOPLE FEEL THE NEED TO TIE EVERYTHING TO RACE/CULTURE? SURELY IT DOESN'T APPLY IN THIS SITUATION.............JUST TWO PEOPLE NEEDING HELP AND WAS GRATFUL SOME ONE STEPPED UP.I helped someone get in the swimming pool the other day.
