You did the right thing.
I personally wud have got the samaritans involved or the many Suicide watch organisations that are set up.around our country rathet than the Guards.
Samaritans and the suicide orgs are fully trained in this field and know how to deal with these situations..Guards not so much...plus our culture of crooked lazy no good cops are hardly a welcome site.
Just as a precauction i would give his details to theseother people too who maybe in a position to follow up on this guy...
