Nine years ago, I was terribly ill... Doctors didn't know what was happening.
Per chance, my ex sister-in-law told me that she was going "wheat-free". What??? A woman who had 25 lbs of wheat ready to be ground in her kitchen? Not eating wheat???
I set out to prove her wrong.
What I stumbled upon was the source of my own ailments.
Within two weeks of going "grain-free", my health radically improved. I know what it was like to be sick. I'm never going back down that road!
Is there anyone else out there who is Paleo, Keto or Grain-free?? I'd love to hear your stories!!
Plus, because it is such a "radical" difference in lifestyle (and I would never want to be accused of forcing change upon a man) I almost believe that it should be part of every "first" conversation....

When I say that I eat a High-fat, and low Carb diet, I get the most hilarious looks! Astonishment mixed with "You're crazy!" and "What rock did you just crawl out from?" flashes across their face.

I can imagine
Some are lazy some prefer to complain about their health woes instead of doing their homework.
pKrema: Well, I suppose every body differs and needs different supplies to function properly... I can not survive without carbohydrates
You are correct - everybody is different. There is no "one-fits-all" lifestyle.
I, too, love carbs. They make us feel good. I just need to stay 'low' in the spectrum. No big serving of pasta or rice. Just some grilled or baked veggies.

I mainly eat carbs, that's what my body needs and what the doctors say... Lucky me

Im trying to do the same thing, yet somewtimes i have to give in, croissants filled with chocolate , french fries with mayo , or a slice of bread with liver pate
Hi Dedo, Fries are a carb I allow because usually the fries are pre-cooked before freezing and shipping. I think this causes the resistent starch to be created. But.... I might be totally wrong on this one. I'm open to correction.

three of my favourites!!
i love bread, but it doesn't like me. i find it makes a huge difference if i don't eat it. same with wheat pasta.
i eat the dark chocolate sans the croissant. i love fries and mayo and they don't seem to give me any problems. although i love a good french baguette and pate...i switched to the occasional slice of rye bread/cracker with pate...... or just a spoon... it must be the weather but i've been craving french fries, mayo, and pate for a couple weeks.

hiya Kaylana,
i have friends on the keto diet. me.... i do better with moderation, and small 'grazing' throughout the day. i did drop wheat for the most part. i feel and look much better when i don't eat it. every now and then i will indulge and if i don't eat too much i'm ok. but i have to give a a week or two's rest. if i eat wheat too often, i feel quite sick.
that's interesting about the fries....cuz i can eat them without any problems.

i'm from the west coast...so anyone can eat pretty much anything and no one raises an eyebrow.
i make my own. i'm still mid process in learning to like them....
i'm totally vanity driven at this point; trying to drop some winter weight. it's much colder in ontario, than in vancouver, so instead of going outside each day over winter...i stayed in, sat around filling my face.....

I make and bake most of my own food. I just prefer the taste, and like knowing exactly what's in it.

But kale chips aren't top of my list
oohhhh, i hear ya! we rarely go out for dinner, and i make or bake pretty much everything we eat, for the same reasons as you. as well, i have some allergies which get triggered by processed foods.
i comfort myself with the knowledge that i just ate a cup of kale. dark leafy greens and all that goodness.... (and yup, i was having a smoke while i did that.... ) and it certainly cuts down the calories so that i can still have coffee and baileys...
