A friend is someone totally special, although some confuse this word and only use that word for their own benefit, I dare to bet that there are still people who trust this feeling full of promise and strong ties. "Friendship" how much of us when we are afflicted, do we not need a helping hand, or a friend who listens to us? Let us understand, give us some advice. But are we capable of being grateful, with the people we consider our friends to such a point that in some situation we have to give our lives for them? Would you do it? Without thinking, would you give your life if necessary for your friend?kiss

It's easy for me to be brave and say yes whilst sitting in a happy safe position.

I have no idea. I think I would have to be in the situation to know what I would do in reality.

It's really hard, but feelings when they are sincere and true let you act for yourself,

No idea. My best friend died doing this - to defend a beautiful woman he threw himself in the path of a knife-wielding martial arts expert and this is an absolutely glorious way to die - but I'm not going to belittle what he did by casually claiming that I'd do it too.

I'd give a kidney, blood, piece of my liver, anything that can be detached from my body and save life...
Years ago trying to save my best friend from drowning in the sea nearly cost us both our lives...
I remember the feeling as if it happened yesterday...
I didn't think before I run to help her and if something similar happens I am almost certain I won't think again despite the fear that stayed in my mind ever since ...
Until it happens you don't know...

First I would have to ask would they do so for me?

Besides a real friend would never ask or expect their friend to do so anyway.

In reality, we do give our life. We give it to those around us. We sacrifice ourselves on the altar day in and day out, believing we are doing “good” or what is right.

If I were to ask my friend if they wanted the sacrifice, I can guarantee that person would rather I stay alive.

A better approach would be “What can I do to help you?”

This allows them to be in control of the decision process and feel respected.

Of course, these are all hypothetical. One can never know the outcome while in the thick of the moment.
