galrads: Is it a good thing or bad thing? Should you tie pillows around children’s tummies and knees to protect them better if they fall? Are over protected children less like to be independent when they grow up?

Opinions or absolute truths anybody?
Whenever they grow up (if they grow up) their mothers intervene in their personal live and tells them how to deal with their relationship n even try to control who they get into a relationship with

They're sheltered and know nothing about the real world....they rebel....and become dependent on others to solve their problems for them....they don't know how to problem solve.....beer

My son wasn't a street kid..Had a fab education..Was playing different sports every weekend for all seasons not into drugs never lit up a cigarette..Never truanted school..Hated the thought of buying lunch from the school canteen preferred mums lunches..Educated about respect/woman and life

My son made a huge name for himself in boxing here in Australia had many fights on what we call Foxtel here which is pay tv..Changed his sport to UFC he's an Australian UFC champion he's rich he owns a mansion on par with the best in the world..Travels the world profusely whether to trainor fight in his sport or just for fun..Gives to those less fortunate than himself

He owns a huge fancy gym which is a thriving business he trains people he gives motivation speeches
he's an Australian champ in every conceivable category

Now he's in Manhattan looking at a contract to be on a reality show in the USA against other fighters where they all stay in a mansion fight for hopefully the last man standing.

So if people look at a kid who wasn't allowed to be a street kid nor allowed to take drugs nor allowed to smoke a cigarette nor allowed to sit watching tele for hours as being over protected all I can say is you
worry about your own backyard my backyard is perfect

I don't see that as being overprotective at all merc....overprotective would have meant you not allowing him to be his own person and not allowing him to do anything where he could be hurt....your son is awesome merc and you should be a very proud mama.....hug

Exactly M4 hug

Yes he wasn't a street kid but my home was an open house I fed all he's high school mates girls & boys my house was the fun house my house was the house to hang out at.

He had young mates in high school where they wore dirty school clothes had no lunch because their parents were heroin addicts..He included those kids he asked me if he could give some of his uniforms to those kids as I always bought way too many school items..He gave those kids pencil cases full to the brim he gave them new covered school books with every thing they needed he took extra food to give to those kids.

I looked at some of the post's on this thread I'm like yeah PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!~

epirb: well at least he never grew up stoned , pissed or fulla pox like a few and needing state support while bludging off tax payers . Creating employment for 25 thousand is of no consequence to many either .
25,000 Chinese jobs is great, for China!
