Enjoyed the P&C of the Royal Wedding this AM, with such a nice socially active couple. Saddened though, that on the bride's side only one family member was present, namely mom. Gossip media report bigtime issues on dad's side of the family. Perhaps, but historically and present day, the British Royals are hard to beat in these regards, with a few notable exceptions, as for the Queen Mother. V-Aa.

Seeing/watching the bride walk most of the way down the aisle made me feel sad but I suppose that's life.moping

Yes, BW. I felt the same way, and just hoped that she is as grounded as she seems, and that she didn't inherit any of the alleged problems the media are tossing out at her dad and step sister. The Royals don't need any more of ALL THAT. Aa-V.

Why be sad? They are both happy.

Sure about that?Just because someone smlies on the outside doesn't always mean that they are always happy on the inside.

We don't really know someone else's life unless we've lived it ourselves.

A nice socially active couple.. you speak like the man from Human Resources.

Anyway the wedding is bound to turn a profit and the marriage is a highly functional arrangement raising the status of British royalty in the 21st century. And at the end of the day status is all that matters, status and merchandising.

All, it's true that the whole fuss over royals has run it's course in most of the world. It's said that in the EU, only 10 countries still have some meaningful presence of royalty. But the brand is still commercially huge in the UK and former commonwealth. Jobs, money changing hands, and so on. Of course, harder to quantify is the warm feeling it all generates for so many. A little joy in the lives of some can be a good thing, if not coopted by government. Aa-V.

I asked why the OP was sad. They are doing what they want to do regardless. Moving on with their life. Making plans and living..

I didn't see anything there to be sad about. The wedding was lovely. And she walked part of the way by herself with dignity and grace. We none know why her father was not there. There have been so many rumors. And in the end it doesn't really matter. It is their life their journey and I hope it will be a happy one filled with gratitude of the life they have been given. heart wings

I do sometimes wonder about this word dysfunctional. uh oh

Exactly there was nothing to be sad about. They made their own day special.

Rachie then you shouldn't quoted the Op then cause as far as I could tell it was fair game.

Why? I went by his use of words of saddened? Whether I quote or don't.

She now has an extended family. Charles was asked and showed it by greeting her and walking down the aisle with her.

Harry and Megan have plans for a life together. Doing proactive and positive changes for people. Maybe we should look to them as inspiration. Rather than speculating. This is their next stage in life and I hope it brings them both a lot of happiness. The world could do with more of it.

I often wonder what people think, if only it was a positive they thought.

Well, thanks, all. Of course I was happy for the couple. Just tried to imagine myself there on the altar with only one member of my family there, and all the sordid media stuff on why. Of course, as well, the prospect of marrying would be enough to get a severe clinical depression going. Aa-V.
