The answer to religious fundamentalism is atheist reason and so long as people can point at Islamophobes and say “look who’s talking” there’ll be a weakness in the resistance. The problem with the popular right’s war on Islam is that they’re too alike, the popular right cannot make a convincing display of standing up for western values which is a turn off for anybody without an axe to grind. You need to recruit more people who aren’t just pissed off and looking for a fight with anybody they can easily attack.

Some people will be fine with the double standard but not everybody. And more importantly the people who do have a problem are more likely to be genuine or intelligent leaving the popular right as a movement of the disingenuous and unintelligent.------ This thread is Archived ------

This can work in a positive way too, fortunately.Fundamentalists understand other fundamentalists, even if their beliefs seem antithetical.
In N. Ireland, it was the moderate SDLP did all the hard slogging for years prior to the peace agreement. But it was only with the hardline DUP and Sinn Fein got talking that peace ensued. The Chuckle Brothers era.
It is the same with any fundamentalists. They are basically the same, thus understand each other.
Put 2 opposing egotistical autocrats into a room together too, and they will probably come out best buddies.
