I’m planning to buy a new home and I’m not sure which appliances to buy. The builder uses GE brand stuff. I’m leaning towards Bosch brand stuff (frig, range, oven, dishwasher etc.)

Out of the following, which is your preference? Otay?

GE
Bosch
LG Samsung
elika
ASKO
Faber
Summit
U-Line

Why waste money on a dishwasher?

If I were you I would have two huge twin sinks..One to wash and one to rinse wash up yourself.

I could be wrong but I think a sink like the one in this home isn’t made for washing dishes. I guess I’m lazy but I haven’t washed a dish in my adult life. dunno

Mix and match for me, I have a KitchenAid dishwasher, a LG refrigerator, and my newest is a GE stove.

Sometimes the builder will let you upgrade the appliance's, I would look into that, they usually put the cheap stuff in unless you upgrade.

Hi galards you don't make appliances like they used too and you often have replace or have the items repaired which is costly.

I doubt any particular brand name is all that reliable anymore.I've never had a particular brand.

Bnaughty: Aldi
Buy Aldi. Work it hard. Subcontract it to the neighbours.
3 year warranty. It's win win.

Rachie14: I guess paying £2,000 for Worcester/ Bosch was OTT but the warranty and quality is the best.

Mine was a boiler. I purchased a cheaper on Gals. I had no end of problems with it over a few years.

I'm the dishwasher here, but my appliances are mid range. Candy. If you won't be using it a lot. Go for mid range. If you are going to use it a lot, you need it be more reliable.

Bosch, LG are perhaps a better range. Just my opinion though.

I have been repairing appliances for about 25 years except for about 5 years where I did mostly handy man work. It usually took about 5 years before I saw any newly designed appliances so at this point I'm about 10 years behind whats currently available.
I can tell you this, in the last 10 years the quality of appliances has fallen way down and there are few if any made that can compare to stuff that is 10 years old or older. 15 years ago if someone asked me what brand I would recommend, hands down I would have said Whirlpool across the board. Now I say if you want quality buy old whirlpool stuff otherwise it's a crap shoot.
