The back yard ones were lovely, almost like the long Phillipino ones but not quite. I got a few hundred kilos no problem of really nice fruit.

Will do. The thing is, everyone here goes on and on about Bowens, sure they're great but there are some wonderful other types. Everybody here worries about how stringy they are, but my nice mangoes are not stringy at all.

Yeah, my good ones are like those on your profile. Kind of long and thin. The green ants got me good a few times, but I got heaps of juicy fruit.

I remember being shown how to enjoy those kind of mangoes in India 
They weren't huge and GM like supermarket produce here so you just sliced the pointy end off, squished up the body and slurped out the flesh and juice, delicious

Mangoes here? ...only in the warmer parts of NZ....and then it only grows slowly. More reliable to fruit mangoes here under cover.
It was merely my wishful thinking for a mango tree in the back yard.
