s*xual health...... (79)

When it comes to discussing s*xual health people often shy away. STIs affect people of all ages and backgrounds and can be lifelong, whether dormant or active and people often don’t realise they’re STI-positive when infections yield no symptoms.

Testing is free in most countries and takes about 10 minutes. For both men and women, you make your appointment and arrive with a morning urine sample... You will be examined. A swab and blood test are taken for STIs and HIV and the results are texted to you in a week. You don’t give your name and it is totally confidential... STIs cause very serious injury so why are people taking chances? Should couples insist on a test before commencing a relationship? Why is s*xual health such a taboo in a knowledge society?

Here in SA, HIV is so common, that everyone gets themselves tested quite often, if they r sexually active....

U do get the irresponsible ones as well, that has sex with anyone and everyone, and end up being HIV positive, and pass it on regardless of anyone else.

I feel that before commencing a responsible relationship, both should be tested together, which means a pin prick on a finger and an almost immediate result, then u r both safe and secure.....to start a relationship open and honest.....Not just fall into bed and have sex regardless...…

Responsibility is the keyword....

He needs a reality check! STIs lower the immune system so it leaves one vulnerable to other diseases! Docs should test for STI as a standard!

It is possible to be charged with attempted murder if one knows that you have HIV but engage in unprotected sex without telling their partner. STIs are so prevalent now, it is obvious that people are either too trusting or too stupid to care! confused

Yes, I agree, It will be attempted murder.....but how often do u find a man that will willingly get tested, as u don't take his word for it...they will say ur insulting them....and refuse to go....and not get sex from u period.....Responsible people r very scarce indeed.....

I’d feel disrespected if I was asked to produce a clean STI certificate and I wouldn’t ask her to do that.

It’s not quite the same as making people with STIs wear stickers, but it’s not going to encourage people to be tested, and certainly not people who think they might have something. The disrespect and atmosphere of low-trust you’re creating would actually help spread disease.

I would hope to meet someone that's not a bar whore, that needs to be tested, and I would hope that she would not think that way about me. It's hard to catch anything when you don't do anything, It's been so long for me, I can't imagine just hopping in bed with someone now, I would rather have romance to build up to it... ya, I must be getting old, but thats how I feel now.
