rohaan: Over the years I have been adamant about my beliefs and opinions. One deciding "teachable moment" for me came a few years ago, actually on CS--it goes back to the adage, "Minds are like parachutes. They're only functional when open." This may not be accurate in every single case, but it is generally accurate. Progress and learning mean being able to absorb others' points-of-views, AND, being able and willing to change one's thinking at times. "We are all a part of everyone we meet".
Some parachutes just fail to open on the CS forums, Ro.
I'm stubborn 50% by nature and 50% by design, so I would NEVER conform to anyone's opinion of me. However, I have some best friends who seem to know me better than I know myself at times. I do believe there are times you are actually to close to a situation that your vision is blurred, so there are times when an outsiders perspective is needed and should be considered, but just some random person offering their two cents is always a definite NO!
