Tulefell: Communication skills, yes, but the thing is that practically all my contacts, exclusions are rare, write the very same, no matter country or age or race. Is there any kind of collective mind that the most men are connected to? A matrix that reproduces itself time and again?

Just very discouraging, it is.
it is discouraging ...
but...you know, it is expected from the guy to make the first step... i`ve read a lots of profiles ,female profiles...in 90 percent i just gave up on making the initial step after reading their profiles

I noticed this (as Limun said) among men who lacked communication skills and seemed like people who wouldn't even know what to talk about and some men who seemed like fake profiles and potential scammers. Either way - it never turned into the successful conversation.

If your profile doesn't say much, I think "tell me more" makes some sense...
They obviously liked something about you and want to confirm they got your intention of skipping the long and boring intro right...

Hey, it gives you solid 10 % to choose from. Don't get greedy, eh :)

By the way, why it''s expected from a man to make the first step? Or, perhaps, it's a topic for another thread.

I never even saw a long profile here. Nonetheless, I've just emerged after reading a trilogy without taking a breath and can safely say: it's not the length, it's contents and style.

"Selling" oneself could never be a pleasant thing to achieve through a description of one's qualities and substance and so on...on a dating site...
It's like a CV and some even use the word "apply" which always leaves me speechless...but actually more irritated if I have to be honest...

Then don't read his profile 'till you are properly married and expect the third child.

In the past I've looked at the profiles after seeing them in the forums. You very quickly detect an affinity, I am not looking at the moment, I need some spacecats meow

Well, Tulefell,

I prefer to find out in a process of conversation, who is who and who is what...
a long detailed profile isn't a guarantee he's all he says...

I think that people either use CS strictly as a dating site or they use its other features, like forums, blogs, etc. If they stay for forums, etc. they usually stop using CS as a dating site. I did that. laugh

And I also have an impression (might be wrong completely!) that people don't take you seriously on a CS dating site if you write on forums and blogs. So, I'm not really sure if it is a good idea to post on forums and blogs if you are really searching... confused

Tulefell: Who of us didn't receive this ingenious request at least once? Me, I get it in 99.9 % of the times, scammers not included. Wondering what the sender expects for the answer? A tome for each year lived? A list of preferences? Like, my top 10 000 of...

What do you answer to this phrase? In case, you answer.
tell me more,,, what else? or do you expect an intergalactic dissertation ?

I believe most of those people using this type of message are doing the right thing , separating bs from reality.

Regarding your question of "special introduction",in real life, when we meet someone, there are you do two things we do normally:

1. we say hello ( or bonjour, ciao, guten tag, hola)
2. and tell them our name.

as it is in real life, introducing ourselves should be also enough online, but instead of just saying “hi,” “hey,” or “hello” looks like that we need to craft some masterpiece of a message full of witty/intelligent remarks just to say "hey" .

Makes no sense, as the reality is , comparing that with real life, most people are not that quick-clever. in fact, the average person is actually pretty normal, and slow-witted. if a conversation was based of what people had to think of right on the spot, they'd all be mostly of the time normal, boring, and straightforward. instead, when someone wants to prove how hilariously smart/intelligent and witty they are, they 'craft' these intricate messages that in no way resemble anything to be taken serious.

so, tell me more... or tell me a lot more bs?
