serene56: The organisation I work with is big on regular after-work get togethers ~ dinners, trivia nights etc
I feel a bit hesitant about socialising with colleagues and management, how do you feel about this
I would go out occasionally, but not regularly. Maybe a Christmas party, or a summer BBQ or something. But generally I tend to leave work at work, and social life outside of work.

Yes I'm happy to get involved in all the activities re team building days, fundraising events and so on, they're fun (and mandatory ) but I prefer to leave work at work too
Aaah, so you're with the redcoats hey? no wonder the convicts are trying to lure you away from the video cameras... I'd say a polite appearance, and then I have to go and feed the dog or whatever. After a few times it will be obvious you're not doing it all as a way of increasing your social circle.
