That's because people don't care to understand it unless it effects them.....that keeps the stigma and stero-types alive.....wine

People don't care about any illness until it affects them...
But then again why should we whisper around ill people...?!
You know, the "C" word is actually cancer...we talk about it but we are too hypocrite to call it by it's name, like it's going to infect us...
Mental illnesses are not a physical disability, you can't just make it comfortable for the sufferers by easing their movement around...
Mentally ill people are not exactly great to be around, are they?!
Don't blame everyone for not wanting to get along and pretend it's ok...
If you have the heart and love and will to help your dear one, just do it and don't expect a reward...

It’s a big improvement on being killed or locked up in an asylum.

But we are a left in a difficult situation where we are too sensitive to shoot lunatics but too cheap to pay for their care.

And this reflects in the politics. There’s Trump and the future where dysfunctionals are shot dead/sterilised/locked up like in the good old days, and then there’s modern methods both thoughtful and expensive.

Mental illnesses are affecting about 450 million people worldwide... The majority of them suffer depression...
It's hard to say they can be shunned, looking at that number...
Depression is quite a regular topic on medias of any kind...
People talk about it, almost everyone knows someone who has it...
Every school, kinder garden, company has a psychologist at their pupils and staff service...
The question is why so many people get depressed...
Have we become weaker and less adaptive to circumstances and life in general...
Do we tend to hide into a realm of fantasy and virtual reality instead of facing life as it comes...?!
Do we know where the crossing line or it's all blurred to the point of delirium...?!

People on here don't reject you Pedro, we have a little joke around , but men do don't they,

WE have come a way from the chemical cosh, where they used to put you in hospital and keep you drugged up, but there is still some way to go before people treat mental illness like any other disability. but they are going in the righy direction, do you know of an organisation called MIND, i did some voluntary work with them, they address some of the questions you are asking. Keep fighting.cats meow
