I lived on the road for so many years, I can sleep anywhere.
I can sleep under bright lights. I can sleep sitting up in a bouncing diesel truck, as it drives across country.
One night I slept under a railroad bridge, where there were only two dry spots. My friend and I flipped a coin; and he got the slide, while I slept on my stomach, over a saddle shaped lump.
One night in I think it was Biloxi, Mississipi, I managed to pull my canoe into a casino on the Gulf of Mexico, that looked like a pirate ship, to sit out a storm, and slept inside of the front of the casino, under lights, without anybody finding me...
I've slept in the fountain on Market Street, near 6th, in downtown San Francisco; and tied a hammock under trucks in trucking yards. I slept on a ledge under a bridge in Idaho, that was 18" wide, and 6 feet off of the ground.
I slept through a hurricane in Florida, on an uninhabited island, in a tent.
I can sleep under the busiest Interstate highways in New York, with railroad yards under them, while trains bang into eachother, hooking up cars and dropping them off, or in the trains.
I can sleep through just about anything...
What wakes me up?
Footsteps!
If someone walks near me while I'm sleeping... I'm on my feet, with a knife in my hand, before I wake up.
