bodleing2: In a way, yes. But I'm not sure control is the right word, that could be a form of suppression. It's more a case of recognising an emotional has been triggered, acknowledging it, but releasing it with awareness. It takes a lot of practice before this happens automatically but it's worth the effort.
Of course some emotions are good, but it's still better to respond to them rather than react.

bodleing2: The truth is, all negative emotions are a form of suffering, anger, envy, attachment and uncontrolled desire to name a few. In life physical pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
I don't know if I would put it that way, I would say that different types of personalities handle emotion differently....Some respond to their emotions and some control it, as far as they can....Do u sleep well then....

bodleing2: Of course, we all have different ways of coping. But when let's say, you're angry, you are suffering, you can't experience happiness when anger is with you. If you understand and are aware why anger has arisen, you will see its unnecessary, the mind will eventually suffer less anger.

None of these if allowed to go unchecked make you a better person, or a person you'd want to be around.
Emotions should not be manipulated to the extent, that they r practically non-existant...as emotions show the real person, not the manipulated one....when pushed, ur real emotions will bubble out and form a very nasty display.....as it should have at the start....Do Not suppress ur emotions...very bad for u as a person....None of these if allowed to go unchecked make you a better person, or a person you'd want to be around.

The awarness to understand your emotions and respond to them in a correct and adult manner. This is very basic buddhist philosophy, bur even at this basic level, many hours of mind training has to be put in.

bodleing2: Yes at first that's how it seems. I'm still only scratching the surface and I've been studying it for over six years lol.
But this awareness is not just exclusive to buddhism, any kind of spiritual awarness will promote emotional growth and a greater understanding of the human condition.

Pedro, be honest with urself, and others....we r told that everyone....even identical twins r unique in genes.....except how many people have u meet, that u could have sworn is identical in personality and ways to another....now they might be unique in the genes....not the jeans..... but that's about it.....people r generally made in the same way, by upbringing, and taking after someone....luckily I have Never had the inclination....to want to be like anyone else.....in any way.....I meant me..................but I know every single person that excisted was ''unique''
