A friend has asked me to join a Yoga class for 6 weeks.
On hindsight, could you advise me how I can get the best out of this!
I have no idea at all about Yoga?

I go to a yoga class once a week, was doing so for a couple of years. Wouldn't want to be without.

In the beginning, follow the instructions, then you will find what suits you best.

Or not.

I exercise medical yoga, mostly different types of breathing in still positions, sitting or lying. The room is large and well ventilated, while I'm easy to freeze. So I wear a pair of soft warm trousers and a soft warm long sleeve top. We also get woollen pled.

If you don't know what to wear, take on a few layers that would be easy to remove during the class. Choose something soft and convenient, that would not hinder the movements, pijama-like. There's no men there :)

Yoga is a very wide name for a variety of types from gentle breathing and meditation to yoga that doesn't hardly give you a chance to breathe until the end of the class laugh

I have done everything from Bon through Ashtanga to Bikram. All very different but all very enjoyable in their own way.

Well worth it thumbs up

I like cats, I drink up to 1 litre milk a day and eggs are one of favourite foods...

There are many different types of yoga, some more fluid and demanding than others. I find Iyengar yoga to be most useful for me, it's not too energetic. A good teacher makes all the difference though.

Yes, the leadership is all. No fancy clothes would replace it.

You start with milk and eggs.

The moment you get your claws in him, the demand for the potatoes begins

That makes a difference. A good teacher should know everyone's name, know what weaknesses they may have, such as problems with knees or back and pay close attention to the group, correcting stretching positions when necessary.
Ive come across some who do none of this.
