It has always been around.

But there are so many ways of people being subtly, and not so subtly, manipulated now.

The press isn't very free anymore and social media is too free.

That came up in conversation here recently.

Kids leaving 2nd level education are not prepared for either university or the real world as they are not taught to use critical thinking.
It is something which has to be looked at seriously as it is a necessary life skill.

That's very true....the best class I ever too was ethics in college....I loved it and it taught just that....also to be able to debate based solely on facts alone and without emotion.....those skills were critical because it was a paralegal course so critical for the court room.....wine

Parents don't teach their children much anymore, because they both have to work. After dinner the administration is waiting, and the kids have their homework.
About 40-50 years ago women didn't work and they had time to teach the children some morality, now the kids are send to a nanny or who/what ever.
When in my youth I was naughty, I would get serious punishment, nowadays that's forbidden by the law, parents oinly tell their kids: You can't do that, and they go on with their life.
And the muslimchildren grow up on the street overhere, after school, they play outside and the parents don't seem to care what they are doing there.
Well, lot's of times they are saying bad things to woman, and they are in a big group. When a woman reacts she will be beaten up. They teach eachother stealing and selling drugs and all kind of criminal behaviour.
It's a serious problem and the gouvernment looks away.

One of our dutch comedians had a joke:

67% of Moroccans have been in contact with the police, it's a shame they don't have the other 33% yet.

That's a joke? confused I don't see the humour but that's me. Not many generalisations in this post. Not many at all.
