MisterForYou: I get the impression that very average men expect to hook above average women, and vice versa. Why do we have these inflated ideas of what we are worth? We are not all gods and goddesses, why can't we accept an average Joe or Joette?
It depends if our expectations are realistic or unrealistic. It is no better to under-sell yourself as to over-estimate your worth.
In the former we would be stuck in an unhappy relationship, in the latter we would be stuck in a relationship with ourselves.
