Trump said soybean prices have gone up. liar liar pants on fire.

They have fallen to near decade lows since his trade war with China began.

WTH does a failed real estate developer from New York know about farming?

There's a big dairy farm a few miles from my house. I use to get raw milk from them in exchange for eggs from my chickens. A dozen eggs for a gallon of milk. It was a great deal for both of us. The owners, 3 brothers, were getting on in years and it was time to turn the farm over to their sons. However, the younguns weren't too happy with the labor involved with milking 60 cows twice a day not to mention cleaning the milking apparatus, health dept inspections, caring for calves feeding etc etc. So;
The boys decided to sell the cows and grow crops instead. The number 1 crop from the standpoint of profit is;
Soybeans.
So, that's what they did. They're in a bit of a pickle now because they can't go back to dairy. You can't just look on Craigslist for a herd of milk cows. It can take 10 years to build up a dairy herd like they had. Plus all their milking equipment was sold off. Replacing it would cost a fortune which they don't have.

Okay, I'm confused.

We haven't got to November 2018, January 2019, or March 2019 yet.

But they haven't actually gone up yet.

Something could happen which could affect the prices between now and then.

Plus, if it's drought and flood lowering crop yields which has bumped the predicted price, do the maths.

If a farmer has 30 beans at a penny each, he, or she will earn more than if he, or she has 3 beans to sell at 2p each.

What do those predicted figures actually mean for the farmers, assuming they come to fruition?

I am also confused, why is it okay for the Court to be 100% biased to the political right and not okay to have one, that's 1, A single person, who is moderate or even slightly to the left?

Why do Republican always make a drama out of the tiniest things? Not once has any Democrat suggested the court system should be all left bias, all they are saying is that by making the court 100% right bias, it will destroy the impartiality of that court.

The maths is correct, the prices given are a projection, based on historical data, but with a completely new set of rules in place, and any projected forecast is inherently going to be wrong.

Soybeans biggest market was China, China stops buying US Soybeans, but the farmers still have crops to sell, the local market gets flooded with soybeans so the price crashes, anyone with an ounce of business acumen can understand that.

Thankyou, Riz. That supports my first argument.

The particular maths I was referring to in my second, was how price changes might directly affect the farmer. Bragging that prices have gone up, doesn't necessarily mean farmers will earn more, or survive.

A company I worked for recently prided themselves and boasted about their lowest paid employees (well, second lowest paid, because the cleaners didn't matter) got a higher percentage pay rise than the highest, everyone inbetween being scaled according to their scale.

What actually happened after stoppages, was that the (second) lowest paid employees went home with less in their wage packets than before the pay rise, whilst the highest paid did rather well out of it.

I really like lessons from people who are not in farming , gives me a larf . The link the HL posted are futures , their will be contracts written on them . Spec markets can go up or down rapidly , indervidual's have a choice weather they want to sign a contract to supply . On those prices locked in farmers will increase their income so long as they produce the contracted volume . If they get droughts, floods this bulldust about Trump won't affect that . We always carry that risk . I am surprised Riz never claimed the futures jump is because of Obama , seems every other time something good happens it's Obama's good doing .
