Spec markets can go up or down rapidly , indervidual's have a choice weather they want to sign a contract to supply . On those prices locked in farmers will increase their income so long as they produce the contracted volume . If they get droughts, floods this bulldust about Trump won't affect that . We always carry that risk . I am surprised Riz never claimed the futures jump is because of Obama , seems every other time something good happens it's Obama's good doing .
I come from 3 generations of corn merchants and have a very clear understanding for future contracts, if there is a major, unforeseen change in the production or selling of produce it is almost always the farmer that loses outSeeing as you brought it up, under Obama the peak price for Soybean was just over 15 dollars per bushel and never dropped below 9dollars during his presidency.
