there was a place in the forest, difficult to reach. one needed to be able to walk along a fallen tree over a ravine, and climb a slippery clay embankment, to an old abandoned 4' drainage tunnel that hung over a ledge. a small trickling of water fed the pond 10 feet below kept it alive with critters of the forest.
i would sit inside the entrance, sheltered in that tunnel from the rain, hidden and safe, knowing no one would find me there, spending hours in the peacefulness of the forest.

I had places I used to go that no one knew where they were too. Can't imagine as a kid not having such a place. We were free range kids unlike kids today that helicopter parented.
Have some lovely childhood memories. My favourite would be, spending a lot of the summer holidays in the river that ran a field away from our house,,,,, swimming and just having lots of fun with friends. Happy days!

All lovely memories,, Yeah the Christmases were pure magic
my fondest memory. when mom would put me to bed and tuck the cover on my side. then when she kissed me on the cheek. i said to my self there is nothing better than this. iam 69 now and i was right.
This will really be dating me but every third Thursday in August, the Sunday School sponsored a bus trip to Coney Island. We cooked all the food the day before and a lot of us ate it on the bus. The rides were great. I went on the Cyclone, the Tornado and the Thunderbolt roller coasters. If you remember the Steeplechase, that was one ride I was scared of falling off. At least the memories are still there.
Oh, my list is long and I really can't choose just one because most of my childhood was chock full of good times. A few that stick with me to this day though is exploring the nearby woods, chasing rainbows, dancing outside in fierce thunderstorms, plucking the legs off of daddy long leg spiders, collecting returnable pop bottles to take to the store and getting the cash for candies,.....just to name a few.....good times.
Lots of things because I was daddy's little girl. After day of playing I always slept in our sofa just to make sure dad will carry me to my bed when he comes home from work During holiday dad will always be Santa giving gifts and being so noisy durin New Year....ahhh wish have time machine
Receiving a straw-filled, humpbacked bear in the post from friends in Germany on my 7th birthday. He's rather worn now, but still the handsomest of all bears.
And my elderly neighbour, Radio 4's Jo Backhouse, long time contributor to Gardener's Question Time, baked me a birthday cake because I was so excited and I'd never had a birthday cake before.
