Presidential Alert Emergency Text Message Test
The first-ever test of the Presidential Alert system will send a message to Amercians' cell phones at 2:18pm ET Wednesday.
The Presidential Alert system is a new type of notification, overseen by FEMA, which allows the president to send an emergency message to cell phones across the country. Wednesday's test will send the message "Presidential Alert -- THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed." The message will be sent at the direction of President Trump.
