I'm a fan of Banksy too, I like the art itself but also the mystery that he has when these huge murals appear overnight, like the Brexit one at Dover. It must have been surreal to see this picture shred itself immediately after the bidding, it was said the shredder was built into the frame and set off, I wonder whether Banksy was there, A better plot than most so called blockbusters these days ….applause

BerrySmoothie: There's speculation Banksy may have been at the art auction, himself, to activate the shredding.
Whether he was or wasn't it was a brilliant idea laugh

He inserted that shredder into that particular painting as he thought it was bloody ridiculous that a ridiculous amount of money was spent on a piece of graffiti years back.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Banksy's work.

i also like the shredded piece. but i couldn't tell from the news that i read, if the shredded pieces remain hanging out the bottom, or if they were completely gone.

exit through the gift shop
can be viewed on youtube for free (if folks are interested in learning more about him. it's not a bad flick, and shows some of his work).

BerrySmoothie: ...though as Grump Bum(Wobbyheed) indicated.....the shredded art work may be now worth more than the original price.

That's the absurdity of the art world.
I think the art world gets the gag....Banksy's taking the piss, playing them at their own game.
The ultimate gag will be the shredded image does become an artwork in it's own right.
It's a one-off. No-one will ever be able to flog a shredded piece of paper again.
Is Bansky is the Duchamp of the 21st century? I bloody hope not.

I love Banksy. Visited his Street Art in Bristol. Loved his “Dismaland” a display of our potential dystopian future... his Banksy Christmas Card is hugely popular. I find it difficult to pick a favorite... However, the youth club that was closing, in 2014, in Bristol, due to lack of funds and during the night he painted an image on the door of the club!

It keeps me sane. Humor is like a buffer for me for the frustrations and other crap. Makes me able to process and deal with things
