Are you really interested in getting married again Chris?

If both wanted, why NOT?? She and i would know,we getting married for keeps, and if there are second thoughts in the mine of one of us, then would be difficult to keep the marriage .lasting for long. The key for both should be.
MisterForYou: Right on. You covered the alternative terrain nicely. I'm surprised you didn't mention the platonic form, which I see in my generation more and more. In the baby boomers, the idea of platonic communes are quite the topic. Of course, for singles in the age bracket 60+ the idea has great appeal - living with company on different terms.
Lol...I'm surprised too. It's a very common and very successful type of relationship; again, the boundaries need to be clearly understood.

Wave, you're right. It's all about boundaries, I think. If the dynamics of a regular couple are difficult, imagine how complex the group dynamics are in a commune??! One rule might be: 'The moment two members in a commune hook up, they have to leave.' - why would that be, I wonder?

Because the group dynamics automatically change
It is the same in real life. If two singles hook up, then they are not part of the greater single community still, so the rules change
The question remains, as it hasn't been forcefully and persuasively answered - Can a life as a single be meaningful, well-lived and complete, without regrets when your time is up?

Of course it can.
Why should being part of a couple be more meaningful than being single?
You have to be your own person, live your own life, and make it as meaningful as possible.
Many people actually lose all of that when they become part of a couple. They lose the sense of self.
I am not advocating singledom over coupledom, but thinking you can't live life to the full as a single person means you are doomed to a feeling of failure.

Meaningful, well-lived, complete...I think yes of course it can; it depends on the person, their values, culture and attitude to their life.
However, to live a life without regrets....and could I add, without failures and sadnesses....is that to have lived at all?

Some people function better when single, some when with someone... It isn't about what we can accomplish on our own or being unable to accomplish anything without someone holding our hand... Do we need reasons to share our space and time with another human being, a reason greater than love?!

Exactly. In an interesting contradiction, one cannot claim to have lived a meaningful life without having experienced failure, sadness, loss, and all the other negatives.

MisterForYou: . Living as a single has many advantages, for instance itis far more pleasant living life as a single rather than in an unhappy relationship. .
Yes, dear, keep telling yourself that, and you may come to believe it.

Maybe singles have become too selfish and feel there is no need for companionship when in reality they are miserable and need còck and pùssy and romance in their lives.
