secretagent09: Have you ever judged a person's intelligence by the way they dress?
Or, perhaps, they gave an answer to a question that was correct so you opined that they are intelligent.
What criteria do you use to assume someone is intelligent
I know intelligent people who are a big turn off, arrogant, untidy, self centered...and so on... My criteria for intelligence is how you treat people...

According to Gardner there are 9 Types of Intellegence. Because most of us have been educated within the Industrial Revolution model of education (which is completely outdated for this modern world) we tend to use it as a marker for Intellegence, it is not! I believe that everyone has amazing potential within and it takes all sorts of thinking and doing to make up this world! However, it is very concerning the amount of people who use drugs and alcohol that has such a severe impact on their minds!u

I agree that "everyone has amazing potential within ..."
To that point I believe that our intelligence grows when we use common sense to make a decision.
To address your point about drugs and alcohol ... my husband was an alcoholic and sadly he died from it. He was intelligent and had a position at a very high level for the company he worked for. When he didn't drink he was a very kind person.

The question really is a non-starter ... but it does reveal quite a lot about the OP ie that their primary mode of perception is highly visual (and they 'listen' and 'feel; less than they 'see' ... making judgements on the basis of a single modality is not really intelligent ! )
But YES, it's possible to make decisions on situational intelligence ... is the person at the poolparty wearing swimwear vs a fur coat (for example)
As for 'correct answers; ... depends again ... is this a 'factually correct answer' the OP refers to ... or has she 'loaded the dice' and opines that the person is intelligent because they gave an answer that she likes (and so consider to be correct?)
Has to be pointed out in a PC world where millions of voices are being shut out on social media channels because people give 'factually correct statements' but are 'wrong' in the opinion of the channel owners !

Addictions change people’s minds and not for the better! It is difficult to keep seeing the good side and more difficult when you lose the good side. Sorry for your loss
