When I was a kid, shopping was a necessity, we went on a Saturday...
My fondest memories are of having dripping on toast at the greasy spoon truckers café on Ealing Broadway back in the early 60s...
It was the beginning of the supermarket era, sainsbury, marks and sparks and the co-op... Green shield stamps and two (wow) cash registers with women called Eileen running them...
Top up shopping was done at the corner shop, just about everything was loose, mum had a wicor/rattan shopping basket, we didn't even know what plastic packaging was about back then (grease proof paper)...
We weren't bombarded with choice, but we got what we needed (apart from bronco toilet paper, nobody needed that) ...
Maybe I'm living off dreams of an idyllic past, but food tasted nicer back then from my memory...
There was no trolley rage, because there were no trolly's....
Crikey, where's all this coming from...
Well we said we were going to revitalize the Irish forum, we didn't say how...
So, shopping today... An activity, something to while away the hours of a weekend, retail therapy, and did I mention trolley rage...
Care to share you're shopping 'mares...
Or can't you wait to get down to the galleria?...
