serene56: I suspected it was something like that

Ain't gonna happen here, sorry
If women have become less feminine, it's because the contemporary environment demands it of them. It's called Darwinism- adapt or die. This means that the western world has become harder and more demanding of women - no more are women left to the traditional roles of mother and housewife (which, if you have done it yourself, is a full-time job) but now have to do it all - breadwinner and homemaker. I'm amazed women still want kids.

I think 'femininity' died out in the 50s ... think 'homemakers', waiting for their hardworking husbands to come home, making sure the children were bathed and bedded, a hot meal on the table and a face full of makeup as they met them at the door conversing

Whilst probably itching to get on with their lives and fulfill their hopes and dreams .....

I guess the lucky ones were the ones that felt fulfilled.

Disagree. I think many women were fulfilled and complete providing for the family and keeping the home operation running. I personally knew a few of them. Why do you feel that that, in itself, is not enough as an achievement? it's a full-time job, and an essential one! What do you mean by 'getting on with your own life'??.....If that was a priority, why bother having kids and a family? If your hopes and dreams didn't include all of the family themes just mentioned above, and you ended up with a family anyway, then you made a humungous mistake.

I don't know about there. But women HAD to give up their jobs here when they got married.
Not when they had kids, just by getting married.
And the kids were inevitable too as contraception was banned. Even for married women.
And you may ask, why get married? Society pretty much demanded that too.

So, although yes there were plenty of loved up happily married women with kids. There was also an enforced aspect to the whole situation.

If you view having a family as 'shackles,' a kind of imprisonment, then it seems you have regrets about doing it Not everyone is cut out to have a family, it's clear.

I get the picture. Every story has two sides, and usually, many more. Thanks for sharing your angle on the subject. thumbs up

I was imprisoned by my husband - I adored being a mother and it was the most natural thing in the world

Raising my children saw the best days of my life and I would do it again in a heartbeat wine

Ah, as usual there are more sides to the story, than just two. In spite of your imprisonment, I'm so glad you felt that way about the experience, in fact I'm envious. With hindsight, I would guess that it's the defining experience of life itself. thumbs up

One2note: With so many single women nowadays, either through choice , or a busy lifestyle, or even , dare I say, from previous bad relationships , have they lost their femininity?
Most , through no choice of their own, have taken over the traditional male role, which has increased their testosterone level , thus making them more masculine, as a pose to feminine.
You may argue the opposite, but subconsciously, is this the real reason why so many women have become so frustrated & bitter creatures, in the modern era ?
Women have finally know their worth and finally live it...that's hardly unfeminine
It's just not lIving to the standards men/society put upon our older generation of women.
I happen to think the more masculine men and more in tune with their own selves simply get along with the way women choose to live their lives.
It's the 'lesser' man that always seems to have a problem with it...take Lee Charming for example....all you men on here complaining are merely just seconds off Lee Charming....at least what he does he does with vigour and consistency.

HexagonKeySet: I doubt it's possible to make the question any simpler

It's an adult dating site ... to whom do ewe imagine I'd be seen as a 'role model'

Role model. Term used to describe a person who serves as an example of the values, attitudes, and behaviours associated with a role.

Typically an adult who is in a position to influence children (which is the exact context used here)

For example, a father is a role model for his sons. Sports and music stars are often seen as positive or negative role models to their fans.

Role models can also be persons who distinguish themselves in such a way that others admire and want to emulate them.

On adult dating site there's no expectation of being a role model to anyone ... unless you care to propose such 'role' as you're attempting to project ???
Role models aren't just for children and I'm sort of surprised you don't see that.

Also, in the context of this site, there's not much point in speaking with people who display negative role model behaviours.

That's kinda why I mostly ignore your posts.
