Does it matter what brought it to light.
Its a change that needs to made. Unless of course, we are all ok with these things not being changed.
Sorry to hear that Dermot Ahern's ignorance in the basic freedoms of humanity inconvenienced you and brought about a way to put it right.
Now Mr. Non, get off your high horse, mister. And stop rolling theirs eyes at me.mumbling

My point was, this was one of hundreds of archaic laws which had basically been forgotten about, and not being used in prosecutions, suddenly being updated to being prosecutable for all religions. This to me was a step backwards and gave people the idea they could take blasphemy cases against people, thus reducing our freedom of speech.

Following a broadcast of ‘The Meaning of Life’, hosted by Gay Byrne, in February 2015, a member of the public reported Stephen Fry’s to Ennis garda station for comments that he felt breached blasphemy law. There is a max fine of up to 25k. There was an investigation and it was dropped due to no public outcry .....

Do some research roll eyes

When formulating his new Church of England's doctrines in the 1530s, Henry VIII made it an offence to say or print any opinion that contradicted the Six Articles (1539). Blasphemy was also used as a legal instrument to persecute atheists, Unitarians, and others.[citation needed] Ever since 1838, blasphemy was considered to be only a crime against beliefs of the Church of England.(Wiki)

We are voting to take an archaic law off the statutes, not add one
I'm living a long way from home, Molly. If you don't vote to take it off, it stays. Vote to take it off, please.

It was voted on last Saturday, the vote favored removing the blasphemy law off the statute books... A good result... thumbs up
