Well... men are men, for me , I only... call someone honey if I'm in a relationship with them.. It means different things to different people...
crystalsmile: haha, whether man always say dear honey to ladys when he meet a strange lady just one minute?
That would annoy the hell out of me. I see that as disrespectful and condescending. Perhaps it depends on the culture and generation? But I certainly don't like it.. and I usually give them a taste of their own medicine (so they know what it feels like)

i think being lady we know clearly which words is real, which words is not real
crystalsmile: to aries1234 really?then how to know the difference between love and like and friend and strange person?
Well i think that's a separate issue, most people know the difference between love and like, and he varying degrees of love.
In our dialect in Devon and Cornwall it is not unusual to call a women dear or darling, and as I said, not so much there days, but before calling a woman of equal status , my lovely ,or, my beauty, was not uncommon. Calling another man my dear was acceptable as well.

Well, it's not my way of conversating with a woman. One day I was in a bar, a band was playing and I was waiting very long for there were many people inside. So the woman behind me said: Can't you order for me too? I said, no, I won't. Then she said: Okay, If I manage to get before you, I'll give you a beer. After she managed to get being served before me, she gave me a beer, and said: The next one is on you. I said: Why should I? You're old, you're ugly and you are boring, but thanks for the beer.
