Some age threads going on here regarding dating, but what about professions?... Does a person's job influence your dating choices?, and unemployed or the 'volunteer' offerings?... Does a person's job (in your experience) reflect on their personality away from work... I work in care, my dates have worked in care, legal, shop, volunteer.... Those from care backgrounds have (for me at least) been the best company on a number of levels, some obvious, some not obvious.... Discuss at will, I'll chime in as and when....

It doesn't bother me what they work at, as long as they work, and their work isn't all-consuming.
Just thinking back, engineers seemed to feature in my life
For me, her profession is not important to me, as long she does not compromising her own (or mine) ethics or morality . (we can work the gap in interests… not values).
I don't date "professions" or "careers ". I don't care if she is a high school, college drop out or a surgeon - same rule for all.

I do think a persons job does have a bearing on who they date , for no other reason than they share common ground .
As long as we can have a conversation about everything and anything, I am fine with his profession... I knew a builder with degree in History... And a baker psychiatrist... Life's colourful...

People get use to a certain lifestyle & won't compromise on that , however good a conversationalist he is !
pKrema: But some people like having two professions...it's not the money that drives them to it but pure enjoyment ...
Any person who enjoys their profession to the extent of having 2 jobs, can't value his relationship that much, in my opinion . I've seen so many people here in London, who are so career minded , they fail miserably when it comes to relationships, because ttheir energy fixed solely on a career & don't have that working / socialising balance .

All my past relationships have been grafters....
I would like someone to have a job they are passionate about but do the let it run their lives.
I'd much prefer a 9 to 5, weekends off person rather than the profession. As I love my weekends and I don't mind working hard during the week at a number of jobs as long as my weekends and his are free to enjoy ourselves with.

Well, not everyone sees it this way... Some people turn their hobby into a second profession, it's fun not a burden...

When you work with appointments you have more flexible working time, and can make your schedule to suit your needs for free time... It's not about killing yourself...

I agree ! When I had my own businesses, it not only affected my social life but my health .. luckily I saw the dangers ahead, sold up & went into relief management in central London . Like yourself , I could pick & choose my working hours & suited me fine, until I got this cushy little number, working sociable hours during school terms only !
He may wash dishes for some reason at the time we meet...but if he is smart and talented, I'd be backing him up all the way to persuing his dream job...
