German Shepherds do make excellent guard dogs, but their propensity for eating small children means they are only suitable for child free locations. Rottweilers are very easy to bribe; drop a piece of raw steak in front of one and it will let you walk away with whatever you can carry. Now a Doberman won't let anyone near your property, but, if it's in a certain mood, it won't let you near it either. Perhaps some kind of crossbreed is the way to go. Hope you found this helpful, ali.
There's a different kind of dogs If you want it for farm there's a dog for farms If you want a dog for hunting there's a dogs for hunting If you you want a dog for fighting There's a dogs for fighting If you a smart home dogs there's a dogs for home Etc etc etc Just pick the best for your interest.

Ali, a guard dog is supposed to alarm you ,and then you should deal with whatever is out there-if you want or expect from the dog ,more ,like to attack on command ,or to impress some friends and neighbors ,that's a different approach . Depending what kind of a character you expect from the dog -check out his parents first ,their character, and according to that,purchase... later check out training methods and start working with the puppy Myself, i prefer terriers

You need to be an experienced owner to manage a rottie or doberman
German Shepherds also need lots of training and exercise, but are easier to manage for an inexperienced owner

Hey Ali, if you really want a dog for protection why not consider this Belgian Malinois breed?

It's hard to beat a good German shepherd from a good German bloodline........... bred for guarding. However you can get good or bad in any of the breeds you mentioned. Take a good look at the parents and see how they are trained before deciding on a puppy. Expect to pay a lot for a top quality dog.
I've written extensively about dogs and what breed to choose if you look at my blog.
The 3 breeds mentioned above...shepherds..rotties..and Doberman...need a strong pack leader!! Or they can all be dangerous.
Do you want a dog that guards and don't let people in? Or one that doesn't let people out if they break in? Also...do you want a killer dog????
All these are factors to consider.
I've had 2 rotties...also shepherd dogs and rotties are certainly more reliable...if you have them under control.. And they're a one master dog.
My dogs were all obedient and all served their purpose.
As for what Molly says: you can bribe rotties with some meat????? Mine couldn't be bribed as I taught them not to take food from anybody.
Hi Daniela , that's a good info , personally I like an aggressive protective dog to be with me on the farm as well as an active dog at home at night time
